Why have a blog, though?
I am old enough to remember a time when blogs were the dominant way that people kept in touch online. The advent of social media prompted most of us to migrate over to shiny new formats, such as Facebook and Instagram. Blogs became a thing of the past, snapshots of our old lives that only resurface when we apply for jobs, and our potential future bosses decide to do some digital archaeology by searching our names online.
In this day and age, a blog seems terribly dated. Maybe that is why I (with many others) find myself going back to them. It is part nostalgia, part revolt against corporations selling our personal information to the highest bidder.
